Medications and Health Conditions

By making us aware of your medical concerns, you help us to ensure the best, safest treatment plan. Many medications, including antihistamines, list oral side effects as a possibility. For example, allergy medicines can cause dry mouth and certain inhalers increase the risk of developing an oral fungal infection. If you experience these side effects, we can make recommendations to help you cope.
Dental Anxieties or Phobias
We understand that not everyone shares our love of dentistry, and we are pleased to offer sedation dentistry to patients who are anxious, require multiple procedures, or are unable to sit still for long periods of time. However, many of our patients do not require sedation but still have concerns about visiting us. If you find that some aspect of dental work causes you anxiety, by all means tell us! For some, a sensitive gag reflex might be to blame; others might be wary of certain dental instruments. The more we know, the better prepared we are to provide a comfortable experience.
Pregnancy
Even pregnant woman are encouraged to visit their dentist for a dental checkup. However, certain procedures are best postponed until after the baby arrives. These include elective and cosmetic treatments, such as teeth whitening, crowns, and contouring, among others. Additionally, some women develop periodontal disease during pregnancy; women who already have gum disease will most likely experience more severe symptoms during pregnancy. Untreated periodontal disease has detrimental effects on the health of a mother and her child alike.
