What is Cosmetic Bonding?
Cosmetic bonding is the addition of a tooth-colored, sculptable dental material– the same material that is used for tooth-colored fillings–that is added to your teeth to fix a variety of minor imperfections including:
- Chips
- Cracks
- Craze lines
- Fractures
- Stained teeth
- Gaps or spaces
- Lengthening teeth that are too short or worn
- And more
What is Dental Contouring
Dental contouring is the opposite of bonding because contouring removes a small amount of tooth structure from teeth to reshape them. Both bonding and contouring are quick and painless procedures that can be done separately, or used in conjunction with one another. Contouring can correct:
- Slightly misshapen teeth
- Teeth that are too big or too long
- Sharp looking “vampire” teeth
All in a Single Visit
Most bonding and/or contouring procedures can be completed in a single visit and can last five to 10 years or more. However, for a more permanent solution, dental veneers can treat several different types of imperfections at once, and can last up to 20 years or more.
