You Damaged Your Tooth
The first reason we suggest restorative dentistry is to repair physical damage. This might mean that you broke your tooth, you cracked your tooth, or that you are missing tissue as the result of some other source (like decay). Optimal oral heath – which you regain with restorative care – includes a smile with complete, stable tooth structure.
Your Mouth Has A Disease
Another reason we provide patients with restorative dentistry is in response to disease. Rest assured, we use the term “disease” to refer to any ailment affecting your oral tissues. Since most problems are progressive in nature, they will continue to damage your oral health until you seek treatment. This may include ridding an infection with a root canal or addressing decay with a filling.
Your Tooth Is Gone
If you have lost your tooth (possibly due to severe damage or infection), your mouth is not considered whole or completely healthy again until you have replaced that tooth. This is a common form of restorative dentistry – we will replace the tooth with a prosthetic, such as a bridge, partial, or implant.
