Granted, you always have the option to decide whether or not you’re planning on going through with wisdom teeth removal. However, as you may know, there are circumstances in which we strongly urge you to do so. Why? Well, if your tooth is impacted, is going to damage to surrounding teeth, or is causing serious oral health concerns, it’s best for it to come out! However, this is not always the case. Sometimes, you’re not having a serious problem and, as a result, we will not necessarily suggest removal. Find out more!
#1: When You Don’t Have Any
Did you know that if your wisdom teeth have not yet come through, it might be because you don’t have any? In some instances, patients just never develop third molars. As you already know, that means if you don’t have any of these molars, then wisdom teeth removal isn’t even a possibility! Don’t worry, this just makes your life easier. You don’t need this final set of molars for a healthy, complete smile.
#2: Yours Are Perfectly Healthy
It’s not impossible for wisdom teeth to develop correctly, to erupt through your gum tissue, to align well with surrounding teeth, and for you to be able to care for them successfully. However, it’s not extremely common either. If you happen to have healthy third molars, wisdom teeth removal will not be required. However, if at any point the teeth become difficult to maintain, elective surgery is most certainly a wise choice, so you may avoid complications and keep your smile in wonderful condition.
