If you shy away from scheduling six months dental visits – or any dental care for that matter – we find that this often occurs when patients worry about their comfort. This can include emotional comfort or physical comfort. Whatever you are struggling with, you are probably completely aware of the fact that seeking dental care is important and that your smile requires professional treatments to remain healthy. However, that does not mean you feel comfortable or confident enough to pick up the phone and schedule an appointment. Good news! We offer sedation dentistry, so you can say goodbye to nerves or anxieties, and hello to comfortable, enjoyable dental care. Ready to learn more? Read the following:
About Sedation
Sedation dentistry includes the administration of medicine that offers a relaxing, anti-anxiety effect on your body. We will relax your central nervous system, so you can feel calm during your visits. For patients suffering from significant anxiety, we may even suggest that you take an anti-anxiety pill we provide for you the night before treatment, so you can sleep comfortably without worry and arrive to your appointment relaxed – you will then take an additional pill.
Sedation Candidacy
We find that many patients assume their concerns are not valid or extreme enough for sedation dentistry. The worst thing you can do is make assumptions when it comes to dental care – in most cases, sedation will be an option for you. We will also always do anything we can to accommodate your needs, so you feel comfortable and at ease during visits. Sedation is often a wonderful solution for many concerns, including but not limited to the following:
- You have a serious gag reflex that makes treatment quite challenging and uncomfortable
- You suffer from severe dental anxiety that makes it difficult to even schedule a visit
- You suffer from mild to moderate anxiety that does not prevent you from visiting us but that can make your visits extremely uncomfortable and frustrating
- You would like to accomplish a lot of dental work in a short amount of time but the idea of lying in our chair for an extended duration sounds a bit exhausting
