Dental Bridge Quiz: True or False?

  1. True or False: A bridge consists of artificial teeth in any type of configuration you need for your partial tooth loss.
  2. True or False: A dental bridge is a teeth replacement device that you will remove before you eat or before you clean your remaining natural teeth.
  3. True or False: We will create your dental bridge by first taking impressions of your smile, which we will send to a dental lab.

Answer Key

  1. False. A dental bridge does not address all types of tooth loss patterns. Instead, it makes an appropriate treatment for a single missing tooth. Or, you may choose a bridge to replace multiple missing teeth, including two or three teeth in a row. If your missing teeth do not sit side-by-side, you will need to consider another treatment like a partial denture.
  2. False. A bridge is fixed, which is essentially the opposite of “removable.” A partial denture is something you can take out of your mouth at will. A bridge, however, is a device we will cement in place over your natural teeth, so it stays right where it is on a daily basis.
  3. True. Your bridge will be custom-designed to fit comfortably in your mouth and to blend in an esthetically pleasing, undetectable manner with surrounding teeth. This means that we will need to take impressions of your teeth, which will serve as the “blueprints” for their creation. Once we receive your bridge from the dental lab, you may then visit us for final placement.
