Dental Crowns: What’s Your Worry?

dentalcrowndirectviewWhat’s your worry about dental crowns? If you need one, it’s important that you become familiar with the details, so you feel comfortable about coming in to receive one. Otherwise, the problem with your tooth (whether it’s broken, it’s decayed, or otherwise), is going to get worse. In fact, it will eventually get much worse! So, we encourage you to talk with us about your worries, allow us to offer explanations, and then ask any last minute questions. We are just as concerned that you feel confident as we are that you come in for your care. For now, let’s address some common issues.

Worried That It Will Mess Up Your Bite?

Your dental crown is not going to interfere with your bite. What can interfere is a damaged tooth that requires a crown. Fortunately, we can balance everything out again by carefully designing your crown to work with your existing alignment rather than against it. Remember that your crown is completely customized and we will make last-minute changes before the final fitting.

Worried That It Will Look Obvious?

This is something you don’t need to worry about. There’s a long list of reasons why:

  • Your dental crown is fully customized
  • Customization includes a thoughtful design that matches other teeth
  • The crown will match other teeth in color, as well
  • We use materials that are lifelike in nature, so it will look like a natural tooth

Worried That It Won’t Last?

Just because it looks natural and addresses your every concern doesn’t mean we’re sacrificing durability! Fortunately, along with the other benefits, you will be happy to learn that your crown may last a very long time (anywhere from five years to as many as over 30!).
