Extractions: About Your Comfort

relaxedwomancircleWhile certain restorative treatments may not cause you to think twice (for instance, fillings or root canal treatment) the idea of a dental extraction may cause you to worry about your comfort. Before you find yourself hesitating to schedule your visit or allowing yourself to feel concerned, we would like you to recognize a single factor: Your comfort is our number one priority. When it comes to tooth removal, we will go above and beyond to create a sense of relaxation, so you can feel confident and relaxed about making the wise decision to protect your smile with an extraction.

We Numb Your Tissues

Beginning your dental extraction requires serious attention to numbing your oral tissues and ensuring you feel completely relaxed. We will always start with local anesthetic to ensure the tooth in question and tissues in the surrounding area are numb. You can expect a comfortable treatment, experiencing only a bit of pressure if any sensation at all.

Sedation Is An Option

Beyond numbing your tooth, we offer sedation dentistry. You may choose sedation if you feel particularly nervous about your dental extraction or if you require additional numbing. Fortunately, we offer a variety of sedative solutions, so you can feel tranquil during the procedure. You may choose from oral sedation or IV sedation. Oral sedation requires you to take a pill before your treatment. IV sedation offers deeper tranquility and is administered through a very small needle. We will consult with you prior to your treatment to determine the best course of action.

Additional Comfort

We consider every aspect of your comfort at our practice. If you would like a blanket for additional comfort, or if there’s something you would like to bring from home, please let us know. Some patients enjoy bringing an MP3 player, so they can listen to a relaxing playlist during their visit.
