Checking In On Your Dental Hygiene

toothbrushheadspastelHello! It’s us, your friendly dental practice, wondering how you are doing with your dental hygiene. Do you feel like everything is going quite smoothly? Have you been making up some strange excuses and shortcuts, which leave you sort of believing you’re caring for your teeth (but a little nervous those shortcuts will lead to problems like decay)? We understand that keeping up with daily care can sometimes become confusing, a little boring, etc. To help inspire you to get back on track and to keep your oral health safe, we have some suggestions (and questions).

Do You Like Daily Hygiene?

Are you enjoying the process of brushing and flossing your teeth every day? If not, we encourage you to figure out what you dislike about it. Maybe you can’t tell when you’ve brushed enough and it’s time to stop. Perhaps you don’t like the way brushing or flossing feels. Maybe your toothpaste or dental floss tastes yucky. Whatever the issue, take some dental hygiene tips to heart, so you can begin to like the process:

  • If you’re not a fan of brushing, you may wish to try an electric toothbrush, which can make things easier (the way it feels to brush with an electric model is generally well received)
  • If you don’t like the way something tastes, try something new immediately
  • Remind yourself of the details: Brushing should happen twice daily, two minutes every time you brush; flossing should take place once daily

Do You Need Some Help?

While suggestions are always helpful, sometimes you just want to speak face-to-face with a dental professional, ask all of your little and big questions, and feel like you have your dental hygiene under control. If this is the case, please feel free to schedule a visit with us!
